Courtesy of the gaming software giant Playtech, Spread Bet Roulette adds a unique twist to the traditional casino game in the form of a special side bet that can reward players with up to 400 times the winning wager. The variation features an outer wheel with 37 pockets where you can place standard roulette bets on individual numbers, groups of numbers, or number properties.

The developers have also added a second inner wheel that spins in the opposite direction, and contains matching pockets. This gold-colored wheel plays a crucial role in determining the outcomes of the side bets, as you shall see shortly. A racetrack for call betting is also included in the game.

Interface and Gameplay

The interface may require some time to get accustomed to, particularly if one is a roulette rookie. The spinning wheel sits in the center of the screen right next to the history panel where you can see the results of the previous twenty rounds. The betting boxes for the side wagers are incorporated into the main table layout and are shaped like casino chips, which may be confusing to some players. The real chip tray is placed on the left side of the screen, with chip denominations ranging from 0.01 to 100.

The variation plays like any other single-zero roulette game out there. The only difference is you can also place optional spread bets on the following number ranges: 0-1, 2-11, 12-18, 19-33, 34-54, 55-67, and 68-72. After you initiate a round, the outer wheel spins in one direction and the smaller inner wheel spins in the opposite.

The inner wheel eventually locks to the outer wheel and the ball loses momentum, settling in one of the 37 pockets on the outer wheel. The outcome of the spread bets is determined by adding the numbers on the outer and inner wheels. For instance, if the ball has landed on 18 on the outer wheel and 30 on the inner wheel, the spread-bet outcome will be 48.

Paytable and Limits of Supported Bets

Regular inside and outside wagers pay at standard odds, meaning that the maximum you can earn in the main game is 35 times your winning bet on any single number. The game features a racetrack that replicates the number sequence on the outer wheel, making it possible to place advanced wagers on wheel sectors like tiers du cylidre, orphelins, voisins du zero, and neighbors.

The optional side wagers enable you to bet on number ranges (spreads). The bigger the spread is, the greater your winning chances but the lower the payout. The green spread covers only two numbers, 0 and 1, and can bring in the highest prize of 400 to 1.

By contrast, the orange spread covers twenty numbers (34-54), so winning side bets on this number range return even money. If you have any side bets in action and zero hits on the outer wheel, you win double your original side wager(s). Known as ‘green win’, this feature is unique to Spread Bet Roulette.

In-Game Features

Spread Bet Roulette boasts several in-game features that aim to improve your overall experience and gameplay. The history panel is conspicuously positioned in the upper right corner of the screen, showing you the outcomes of the previous twenty main and side bets. It also displays what percentage of the wheel your current wagers are covering.

Players can tackle the main game settings to turn off the ambient sounds, skip the intro video, or disable the wheel auto-zoom. When Turbo Mode is activated, the virtual dealer will instantly announce the winning outcome, sparing you the suspense of waiting for the ball to land in a pocket.

Autoplay allows you to play up to 99 consecutive rounds at the same stake without hitting the spin button each time. You can turn on the feature by placing a bet and holding the spin button to load the Autoplay panel. Use the sliders to select the number of rounds you want to play automatically.

Spread Bet Roulette Return to Player

The theoretical return in the main game coincides with that of the other single-zero roulette variants released by Playtech. All inside and outside wagers carry a house edge of 2.70% and yield an expected return of 97.30%. As for the optional spread bets, their house edges and long-term RTP percentages vary across the board, depending on the range of numbers they cover.

  • 93.28% for the 0-1 spread
  • 93.06% for the 2-11 spread
  • 95.40% for the 12-18 spread
  • 94.16% for the 19-33 spread
